This sophisticated and stylish speaker is a product of Wharfedale's legacy of innovation, which began in the early 1980s with the creation of the first-ever DIAMOND speaker. Today, the DIAMOND series remains a globally recognized name in high-quality, budget-friendly hi-fi speakers.The Diamond 12.4 speaker, the latest addition to this award-winning series, is the result of a collaboration with renowned loudspeaker designer Karl-Heinz Fink. It boasts a contemporary design that is unmistakably Wharfedale, and delivers exceptional sound quality that sets a new benchmark in its price range.This high-quality floor standing speaker features a Klarity cone, formulated from a blend of Polypropylene and mica. This unique material adds stiffness to reduce flexing, enabling a lightweight cone with high rigidity, low coloration, and lightning-fast response. The Klarity cone is fitted with a low-damping surround, achieving both low coloration and expressive dynamics.The Diamond 12.4 speaker also features a precision-made magnet system with an aluminum compensation ring to minimize the effect of variations in inductance as the voice coil travels. This results in an absence of distortion and intermodulation generated by the 'motor system'. The voice coil itself is wound on a high-power epoxy/glass fiber bobbin, a feature rarely seen in speakers at this price level. This design delivers greater power handling and is much stiffer than the typical Kapton type.The 25mm dome is made from a woven polyester film with a high-loss coating to deliver open and smoothly extended high frequencies. The magnet system and the front plate have been optimized for wide dispersion and uncompressed behavior.The speaker's crossover network uses an acoustic LKR 24dB topology, including air core inductors typically found in high-end speakers. This design produces the lowest distortion of all inductor types. Inside the cabinet, Intelligent Spot Bracing connects opposite walls with a specific form of wood brace to achieve optimal reduction of cabinet resonance.Finished in light oak, the Diamond 12.4 Dual 6.5 2.5-Way Tower Floor Standing Speaker is not only a high-performance audio device but also a stylish addition to any home theater or stereo system.
