    Answer: No, side fixing legs make for an easy installation with superior strength.
  • Question: If I wanted to use this for a child gate, would it be strong enough?

    Answer: It depends on the age of the child. It has been used successfully for custom gates for both kids and dogs and has not been reported as an issue by any of the customers. However, if the child is strong enough to pull the latch, they might be able to operate other latches too.
  • Question: How does this work?

    Answer: The latch has a magnet that automatically locks the gate when it swings shut. It makes a clicking noise when it locks, but it works great.
  • Question: I have an opening between the gate and post of slightly greater than 1 inch (about 1 1/8"). Will this latch work?

    Answer: You may have to put a small block of wood between the two pieces to shim them and get them closer together. The magnet is strong, but we are not sure if it will function properly if the gate and post are too far apart. It has been successfully installed at a gap of 5/8 inch.
  • Question: When you pull the latch does it stay open i.e. once closed we can pull and leave it unlatched?

    Answer: No, the latch is meant to be self-closing. The magnet will catch when the gate is in the closed position.
