It is compatible with both 4" and 6" gutters, but the downspout hole must be at least 1 1/16" from the end of the gutter or the tube will not align with the hole. The guard will be somewhat effective in 6" gutters, depending on the size of the opening from gutter to downspout. According to customer reviews, the Wedge Downspout Gutter Guard does not make the gutters maintenance-free, but it effectively keeps leaves, pine needles and debris from clogging the downspouts. However, it does not work with half-circle copper gutters. It is easy to install and assemble with connector tabs but the tabs can break in the cold weather during cleaning. The guard is not effective in stopping tree blossom debris from clogging around it, and water will overflow. Leaves and debris can still collect on top of the guard, thus restricting flow and causing overflow.
