    Answer: It's not as strong as the steel toe. It's flexible but does offer some protection of the metatarsal bone. It's much better than an external guard because it does not get caught up on machinery or stairs. Great boots. I plan to buy them again when they wear out.

    Answer: Yes, they are waterproof. My husband loves the boot. He fell approximately 30 feet and landed on his feet, which destroyed his metacarpals in his feet. Those boots allow him to do his job without his heels hurting. My husband works outdoors, he is a heavy-duty machine equipment mechanic and he is always standing in water, etc., and he has had no problems with these boots. As a matter of fact, he said he wanted another pair just like these to wear.
