The plate comes with little feet under them, which cannot be removed, so it can sit securely on any surface. Also, the bottom pieces can be removed to make the plate completely flat. The feet are 3/4" tall and the plate has a scallop edge. However, when selecting a separator plate, it is recommended to use one that's 2 inches bigger than the cake to avoid the edges showing. The plate is versatile as there are pillars to put between the layers, and can be used as a platter too. Unfortunately, one customer experienced some longevity issues, as their plate broke after one use. Overall, this product is highly recommended due to its durability and usefulness, with the only downside being the scallop edge that might show when cakes are placed on it.
