The journal can take masking fluid, watercolor crayons, and watercolor markers, but blending colors is not very effective with markers. If the journal is clipped shut with a binder clip and the elastic band, buckling from heavy water can be flattened. The paper is made of 25% cotton. Overall, Moleskine Art Watercolor Album is an excellent journal that is highly recommended for artists who use watercolors. However, it's not smooth and will mess up the nibs on microns. The paper quality is 140 lb/300 gsm, which holds water very well, but blending colors with markers is not that effective.
