The recommended heavy-duty variable speed control for the FKD 12XL is a 10-amp speed controller. Although this unit was not made for use as a booster, you can use it as one in conjunction with a remote blower, depending on the configuration of the blade. However, the company does not recommend it. Customers have stated that this fan is not loud and can be used in residential kitchens to expel air.
