The non-return inline valve by Whale is a versatile product that can be used both as a suction or discharge line. It can be used to prevent backflow after bilge pump discharge or as an inline scupper for a drain. The valve is made entirely of plastic without any metal pieces, which makes it safe for use with saltwater aquariums. The valve is designed to fit both 1" and 1.5" hoses, and if you need to use it with a 1.5" hose, you can easily cut off the ends. The only downside of this product is its limited temperature rating of 150 degrees Fahrenheit, which makes it unsuitable for use in heating applications where temperatures may reach 200 degrees. The product comes with a P65 Cancer warning, which is a legal requirement in California. The valve is compact, measuring about 1.5-2 inches long, making it easy to install in tight spaces. One customer used a hose clamp to secure it to a 1" poly sump discharge pipe.
