Answer: There are no synthetic fragrances in this ointment, so it should smell natural or even perfume free -

Answer: Yes, it can be used on minor skin irritations and dry skin. -

Answer: Yes, it is all I use for lip balm, it is first rate. -

Can this help prevent cold sores?
Answer: I can't say for certain that this would prevent cold sores. However, I've noticed that since using the ointment for the past 2 months I haven't had any cold sores. -
Question:
How much Lysine is in the product?
Answer: The percent is not listed of how much lysine, has vitamins a d & e, tincture of benzoin, menthol, & camphor lanocin, cocoa butter. This is a good product. -
Question:
In absence of an spf version of this, has anyone had success adding their own zinc to this? How much did you add?
Answer: I haven't added zinc. I just take it orally. However, this is an excellent product without the zinc. -
Question:
How many times a day can you apply this?
Answer: I use my finger to apply a tiny bit on my lips numerous times a day, especially in the winter. When I have a cold sore tingle, I make sure to put it on every couple of hours all day long, and 75% of the time, it prevents the sore from forming. A little goes a long way; you wouldn't 'glop' it on, of course. And, please note: if I have any type of active cold sore, I make sure to switch fingers so as not to contaminate the container. -
Question:
Can this be worn under lipstick or lip gloss?
Answer: It is a bit greasy so don't know how easy it would be to apply lipstick over it. I apply it around my lips after I put my lipstick on and use it on my lips at night. -
Question:
Can this be used on toddlers?
Answer: I have used it on many areas of my face, lips and skin on my body. I think it would be safe. You may want to ask a pediatrician but I think it would be fine as long as it was not on areas of actual open wounds or on genitalia but could likely be applied near it I would think. It feels mild enough to me but I would still ask a pediatrician online. -
Question:
Can this be mixed in with homemade lip gloss?
Answer: Well, not that easily. It is somewhat thick and stiff, something like Vaseline, which really won't smooth out as you would probably like. I did not rate this one that well. For instance, in cold weather it hardens up like a lip balm. Although, it would smooth out in hot weather and spread. It's just not right in my opinion. There is one made by Quantum and comes in a little tube. But it has a brown tint to it which would mess up the color of your lip gloss or lipstick. You might want to try a liquid lysine product. They make them. But you still might have a slightly brown tint. I have not gotten the liquid lysine yet. Lysine is good for skin and mucous membranes, which is why it is good for lips. And that's why they put it in herpes and cold sore formulas, because it is good for skin tissue. I suggest you either try the one by Quantum, or order a liquid lysine and see what color it is. You might get lucky and find a clear one. Wish you luck.
