The blade holds its edge for a long time and only needs sharpening once and then strop as necessary. It's an excellent tool for someone who loves to work with wood, especially for beginners. However, users should note that due to it being a V chisel, it takes more of a beating than some of the others. When working with hard wood, it does not keep an edge very long.
