- Simone Weil, Rachel Bespaloff ve Hermann Broch'u bir araya getiren Savaş ve İlyada, edebiyat, din ve felsefe üzerinden ölüm ve yaşam meselelerini ele alan bir eser. Weil, Homeros'un destanını ayrıntısıyla inceler ve burada kabusları andıran bir savaş makinesi teşhis eder. İlk kez 1939'da yani 2. Dünya Savaşı arifesinde yazılan bu makale pasifist bir manifesto olarak da okunabilir. Bespaloff makalesini 2. Dünya Savaşı ortasında kaleme alır, çalışmasına savaşla başa çıkma yöntemim der, ama bu makale aynı zamanda Weil'e cevap niteliğindedir. Ayrıca, Bespaloff'un Homeros destanını Kitab-ı Mukaddes'le, şairleri de peygamberle ilişkilendirmesi başlı başına bir katkı olarak görülmektedir. Büyük Alman yazar Broch ise 1947 yılında yani savaş bittikten iki yıl sonra bir sonsöz yazarak bu tartışmaya nokta koyar.
