There is no manual lock but only pressure to hold the refill in place. The handle is not of the best quality and can split after years of use. The duster quality is not great but does the job. The kit could have included at least one more swiffer replacement. The duster can be used a few times before needing a change. It is compact and easy to use to clean nooks and crannies especially the car dashboard.
