The Driver License Scanner is a compact and efficient tool that can be used for scanning any ID card and storing an image of it. However, it can only read US and Canadian driver licenses. The device is capable of detecting the authenticity of an ID by reading the coded information on the reverse side. If that is coded properly, then it may not detect a fake. The scanner can be used outside the US and with age flagging on/off in the system setup. The product comes with the full version of Scan-ID which allows you to search for all customers whose IDs were scanned in on a specific day or by customer name or fields. The scanner is easy to install and set up, and the built-in alert feature for age verification is excellent. The ease of installation and small footprint makes it perfect to integrate next to a POS system. However, the device does not autofill applications and the files do not automatically save with names. Also, some users reported that the scanner stopped working after a few months and the maximum number of scans per database is 10,000, which could be a concern for some users.
