Beginner's Guides Editorial Review

### Editorial Review "Beginning Bazel: Building and Testing for Java, Go, and More" stands out as the first published book on Bazel, a powerful build system widely employed by Google and now open source. The book offers a high-level introduction aimed at helping readers set up and understand Bazel basics, covering multiple programming languages to showcase its versatility. Reviewers appreciate its clear explanations and simple examples, making it a decent starting point for those unacquainted with the system. However, the book has been criticized for not delving deeper into crucial aspects of Bazel's functionality. For instance, it fails to comprehensively explain the rationale behind Bazel's design choices, when to effectively utilize it, and how to tackle custom requirements or migrate existing projects. Additionally, potential readers might find the lack of guidance on using Bazel within an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) and extending it with additional rules a significant omission. Reviewers also note that while the book provides a basic setup and tour of the system, those seeking in-depth knowledge may find themselves referring back to Bazel's extensive online documentation. Ultimately, while "Beginning Bazel" serves its purpose as an initial guide, it may leave knowledgeable developers longing for more elaborate coverage of advanced topics. ### Pros and Cons **
