The textured rubber grips the surface of the fabric firmly without being sticky, making it easy to move the quilt around as needed without slipping or sliding. The handles make it easy to hold onto, eliminating neck and shoulder pain. The hoop is thick and sturdy, holding the fabric taut and preventing it from wrinkling or bunching up. However, some quilters found the hoop too large and awkward to use with their small machines. The hoop may not be suitable for machines with side-mounted free motion feet. If your presser foot can't be raised high enough, you'll need to remove it to place the hoop on the fabric. The hoops are available in 8" and 11" sizes, and prices vary. The 11" size may be more suitable for larger quilts, while the 8" size is perfect for smaller ones. Overall, the Martelli hoops are a valuable investment for quilters of all levels, and they offer a great improvement over traditional hoops.
